Elizabeth Torrens

MD - Liz Torrans Consulting

Liz, a dairy farmer's daughter from County Tyrone, graduated from Queen's University, Belfast in English and Social Anthropology.  Prior to joining the BBC in January 1996, she worked in engineering and the health service.  In 1981 she joined Hyster Materials Handling Limited, where she remained until 1993, having had responsibility as European Personnel Manager and total quality co-ordinator.

In 1993 she joined the Ulster, North Down and Ards Hospital Trust as Personnel Director.  Liz sits as an employers' representative on Industrial Tribunals panels for Northern Ireland.  In 2006 Liz stepped down as Head of Personnel, BBC NI and she has established her own successful freelance HR Consultancy Business - Liz Torrans Consulting.

She is married with two children.
