UBS Future Bright For Magee Masters Student

A County Donegal woman, who returned to education in her 30s, believes a University of Ulster Masters course has brought her one step closer to securing a job near her home. Marie Duffy, from Carrowmena, outside Moville, will complete her Masters in Business Studies at the University's Ulster Business School, based at the Magee campus in Derry this month.

UBS Student winners UBS Students Celebrate with Placement Innovators

Six innovative students were recognised for their outstanding achievements at the Ulster Business School’s 2011 Placement Innovation Awards ceremony.Each received a prize for their contribution to driving innovation and excellence during their placement year. The innovative projects ranged from revamping training materials for a local council to designing and developing a sales management system for a multi-national IT company.The overall prize was jointly awarded to Simon Bradley, a BSc Hons Marketing student who completed his placement in Hartwell Plc, and Emma Drake, a BSc Hons Human Resource Management student who completed her placement with AllState NI.

McGrigors Half of Northern Ireland Businesses Won't Recruit Due To Employment Red Tape

A major new survey published today by the leading employers organisation, CBI Northern Ireland and Belfast law firm, McGrigors, reveals that almost half of businesses believe the current level of employment legislation discourages job creation. The survey, entitled "Unlocking Employment: A joint survey on attitudes to Employment Law among Northern Ireland Businesses", is based on responses from over 140 local businesses surveyed in September 2011.

Industry experts at the University of Ulster’s Ulster Business School have encouraged young people to ‘go that extra mile’ when it comes to finding work. In a week when jobless figures reached a record high, the need for practical experience while studying was highlighted at an event for leading business figures, who bring a working knowledge to the classroom.
Entrepreneur, Michael McQuillan, a Visiting Professor and an alumnus of the Ulster Business School, said young people should market themselves to potential employers.
