How do you lead a team which may be geographically dispersed nationally or internationally? Hear from Brigadier Andrew Roe and John Collington of Alexander Mann Solutions on their experience of leading teams across geographical and cultural boundaries.

As organisations internationalise or introduce more flexible work models, expertise and teams can be located anywhere in the world which results in new team dynamics and new forms of communication. As a leader how should we adjust our behaviours to ensure our organisations are effective and that teams are working towards shared objectives?

Brigadier Andrew Roe

Brigadier Roe is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College, the School of Advanced Military Studies and the Higher Command and StaffCollege. He holds a doctorate from King’s College, London and is the author of two books and numerous articles.

A native of Yorkshire he served with The Yorkshire Regiment before assuming command of 38 (Irish) Brigade in August 2015 with responsibility for circa 5000 personnel in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. He has been involved in operational tours of Afghanistan and Bosnia.

John Collington

John joined Alexander Mann Solutions as Chief Operating Officer in 2012 with responsibility for managing operational performance and leading the growth of the Global Client Service Centre capability. With nearly 3,500 colleagues globally, Alexander Mann are the world’s leading provider of talent acquisition and management services who deliver award-winning solutions to over 65 outsourcing clients and consulting services to hundreds more.

Prior to joining Alexander Mann Solutions, John was Chief Procurement Officer -Director General for Her Majesty’s Government, where he spent six years as a Senior Civil Servant. Prior to that he spent 11 years as a Senior Executive within Accenture, which followed 15 years in the Corporate Travel industry with American Express and Thomas Cook.
